In preparation for the release of Windows 10 Anniversary Update later this year to consumers, Microsoft is releasing a new update for the Windows 10 Anniversary SDK Preview. Before some eager Windows 10 Insiders rush to their Update settings page, today’s release from Microsoft is mainly intended for developers. The new SDK preview can only be installed on machines bearing a Windows 10 Insider build of 14332 or higher and comes with a host of bug fixes and some underdeveloped changes to the API surface area. Microsoft has also issued a warning to current developers to NOT INSTALL the preview if they happen to have or are working on applications that need to be submitted to the Windows Store anytime soon. As promised earlier today, the Instagram app for Windows 10 Mobile has officially launched, as the "beta" tag for the app has been removed with its latest update.

The new version of the app features an in-app browser, GIFs for group conversations, and direct messaging along with Live Tiles that highlight new information without having to open the apps. Early beta testers had a lot of good things to say about it, but now you can try it yourself.

Along with many of your favorite Messenger features – like stickers, group conversations and GIFs – Messenger for Windows has native desktop notifications that make your experience richer and more complete. You also can see when you have messages waiting for you with a Live Tile.

The first big update to Windows 10 will come this summer, a year after the operating system's initial launch, with the release of what Microsoft is calling the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The update's exact release date hasn't been set yet. Windows 10 was officially released on July 29, 2015 -- but that doesn't mean that the Anniversary Update will hit on the exact date. That means you won't have to do anything manually -- it will install automatically on its own. But you don't have to wait until the official release date to install and use the update.
